The sound on my computer works. The sound on other browsers work as well. The only place the sound does not work is Chrome. This has happened once before but I was able to resolve it. This time, nothing seems to be working.
List of things I have already tried (in no particular order):
The only thing that has been suggested to me that I have not yet tried is using Chrome Beta and Chrome Canary. I will eventually try them if nothing better can be suggested to me. I would prefer them to be a last resort though, as I do not want to risk any bugs.
As for which version of Windows and Chrome I have, it's Windows 10 and Chrome 60.0.3112.101
Is this a good question?

No Sound using Chrome. Chrome doesn't show up in my mixer.....How can I add it. Have no problem with other Browsers
Right click on an open chrome tab then select unmute site
it works <3 Thanks to @iam.eronordiz
open volume mixer, then open the tab that dosent have sound, it will probably show up on the mixer, and it should be on min level. Once its like that, adjust it to max then its okay now.
Sound Mixer sometimes has a horizontal scroll bar at the bottom, make sure you scroll to chrome and raise the volume or unmute if necessary
i have tried so many things but can not resolve muted sound on some live streams , when i try to open from a bookmark ie and firefox works 100%
would a older version of chrome work in wn8.1?
Google Chrome is the most popular browser because of better user experience, built-in features, and extensions. It also brings time to time updates to bring more features and make it more user-friendly. Recently, it has come with another fantastic feature which lets you mute websites. Yes! You can mute a website in Chrome browser permanently or temporarily without using any extension. Once a website is muted, it won’t play any sound unless you unmute it. This feature is very helpful to mute those sites that automatically play sound in the background through ads or embedded videos. Now we have a powerful solution to stop sound for any website.
The feature to mute websites has come with Chrome 64 version. So, you must update your Chrome browser to version 64 to use this feature. Also, there are two ways to mute websites in Google Chrome: using right-click menu of tab and Settings of Chrome browser. This step by step guide covers both the ways.
After adding a website to the muted list, the volume icon on the tab for that specific website will always visible as muted. Don’t worry you can always unmute a website in Chrome browser anytime.
What you see in above image are the websites which were added to the muted list in Google Chrome browser. So, let’s see how to do that.
Option 1: Mute Websites In Google Chrome Via Right-Click Menu of Tab
1). Launch Chrome browser and open a website that you want to mute.
2). Right-click on the tab and select ‘Mute site‘ option.
This is it! Now the website is muted. In a similar way, you can mute any other website in Google Chrome. Earlier, there was Mute tab option available in right-click menu of Chrome tab but this option is replaced with Mute site option. I really wish Mute tab option will be added once again. Till then, you can only mute the entire website by right-clicking on a tab and selecting Mute site option.
3). To unmute a website, open it in a tab, right-click on the tab, and select ‘Unmute site‘ option. This will instantly unmute that website.
This option to mute a site is fast. But, you can easily unmute a website by right-click menu of a tab. If you don’t want that, then you should follow the second option.
Options 2: Mute A Website In Chrome Browser Via Settings
Orcs must die download. 1). Open Google Chrome browser.
2). Click ‘Customize and control Google Chrome‘ icon (three vertical dots on the top right corner) and then tap on Settings option. You may see the screenshot added below for reference.
3). The Settings page of Google Chrome will open in a new tab. Scroll down Settings page and click on Advanced option.
4). Tap on Content Settings option which is available under ‘Privacy and security‘ menu.
5). Content Settings has a Sound option. Tap on the Sound option.
6). In Sound menu, tap on ADD option available for Muted sites’ section.
7). “Add a site” pop-up will open. Enter the URL of a website and then select ADD button.
This is it! You have muted a website in your Google Chrome browser successfully. In this way, you can mute more websites. When you will right-click on the tab and press ‘Unmute site’ option, it won’t work. Therefore, the option 2 is more powerful than option 1.
To unmute a website which is muted using the option 2, you need to follow the next step.
8). Repeat step 1 to 5 to access Sound menu under Settings of Google Chrome. After that, you will see the list of muted websites. To unmute a website, click on three vertical dots icon visible on the right-side of website URL and then tap on Remove button. This will instantly remove the website from the muted list.
This way, you can unmute other websites also.

Final Thoughts:
Muting a tab in Google Chrome was already there but that option is replaced with muting an entire website, which was not possible earlier. It’s gonna benefit a lot of users. I was also frustrated with a few websites that automatically play sound. This feature has helped me a lot. Follow any of these 2 ways mentioned above and mute any website permanently or temporarily in Google Chrome. I prefer 2nd option over option 1 as it is more effective. Try any of these two ways to mute websites in Google Chrome and you may help others also.
I recently covered an extension that will automatically mute background tabs in Chrome, keeping them from distracting and annoying you. However, as Ghacks.net points out, Chrome has added a developer feature that will let you mute tabs natively. This means you don't need a third-party extension to get this feature.
For now, the mute button feature is only available in Chrome Dev or Chrome Canary builds. Not sure about your current version? You can check by clicking the hamburger icon (the three lines) in the top right-hand corner and then choosing About Google Chrome from the menu. You should see something like this with the Developer or Canary version name:
If you don't have the correct version, you can always download it from the appropriate link here.
Now that you're using the necessary browser, follow these steps to enable a mute button on each tab that is making noise:
Step 1: Enter chrome://flags/#enable-tab-audio-muting into the omnibox.
Step 2: The setting you need to enable will be highlighted. Click Enable under Enable tab audio muting UI control.
Step 3: Restart your Chrome browser.
There's no guarantee that this feature will make it into the stable build of Chrome, but for a feature this useful, it seems likely.

Modern desktop web browsers—Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Apple Safari—all allow you to mute individual browser tabs in just a few clicks. Even Microsoft Edge allows you to mute browser tabs, although Microsoft could make this a lot easier.

This is useful if a tab starts playing music or video and you want to mute it temporarily. In most cases, it just takes a click or two. If you want something more robust that can automaticaly mute tabs for you, though, we have a separate guide for that.
Google Chrome
To mute a browser tab in Google Chrome, just click on the speaker icon that appears on a tab that is playing audio. You’ll see a line through it, and the tab should be muted.
You can also right-click a tab and choose to “Mute Site”, which will mute all tabs from that site that open in the future.
Mozilla FirefoxHow To Unmute A Tab On Chrome Mac
To mute a browser tab in Firefox, right-click the tab and select “Mute Tab”. As in Chrome, you’ll see a crossed-out speaker icon appear to the left of the “x” button on the browser tab.
Like in Chrome, it’s easy to find which browser tabs are making noise—just look for the speaker icon. You can also preemptively mute a tab before it starts making noise. You can also simply left-click the speaker icon to toggle sound on and off for that tab.
Apple Safari
In Safari on a Mac, you can mute a tab in multiple different ways. While the current active tab is playing sound, a speaker icon will appear in Safari’s location bar. Click it to toggle sound on and off for the tab.
You can also right-click any tab and select “Mute Tab”, or just left-click the speaker icon that appears at the right side of the tab.
Microsoft Edge
Microsoft Edge also displays a speaker icon on browser tabs when that tab is playing sound. However, there’s no way to actually mute the tabs from within Edge.
There is a way to mute individual Edge browser tabs, however. To do so, right-click the speaker icon in the notification area at the bottom right corner of your screen and select “Open Volume Mixer”.
Scroll to the right in the Volume Mixer window and look for the Edge browser tab playing sound. Different browser tabs will appear separately here. Click the speaker icon below the name of the page to mute it.
To unmute the tab, you will need to either close and reopen the browser tab or return here and click the speaker icon once again.
Hopefully, Microsoft will one day add a more integrated tab-muting feature to Microsoft Edge. For now, this is the only option besides muting your PC or switching to another browser.
